Realhumans.org ("Realhumans," "we," "us," or "our") provides this Privacy Policy to explain how personal data is collected, used, disclosed, and protected when you use our website, services, and related features (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service and that we may process your personal data as described here.

2. Data controller and contact

For purposes of data protection laws (including GDPR and similar laws), Realhumans.org is the data controller of personal data processed in connection with the Service.

You may contact us with privacy questions or requests at: info@realhumans.org or at the mailing address listed in the Terms of Service.

3. Personal data we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect the following categories of information:

Account and profile data: name, email address, password, profile details, settings, and any information you choose to add to your Realhumans.org profile.

Usage and device data: log data (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring/exit pages, timestamps), and interactions with our features.

If you choose to provide it, we may also collect communications with us (support requests, feedback) and any other information you submit via forms or User-Generated Content.

4. How we use personal data

We use personal data for the following purposes, modeled on common online services:

To provide and maintain the Service: create and manage accounts, deliver features, personalize content, and respond to inquiries.

To improve and develop the Service: monitor usage, analyze performance, test features, and enhance security and reliability.

We may also use data to prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, comply with legal obligations, and communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and administrative messages.

5. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, Realhumans.org relies on the following lawful bases to process personal data:

Contract: to provide the Service you request and fulfill our contractual obligations.

Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, and improve the Service, and to protect our users, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.

Where required, we may also rely on your consent (for example, for certain cookies or marketing communications) and on legal obligations when we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to help operate the Service, understand usage, and, where applicable, remember your preferences.

Where required by law, you will be presented with choices regarding non-essential cookies and may change your preferences through your browser settings or applicable on-site tools.

7. How we share personal data

We may share personal data with:

Service providers: third-party vendors that help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, analytics, customer support), under contracts that require them to protect your data.

Legal and safety authorities: when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or respond to lawful requests.

In the event of a corporate transaction (such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale), personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy that provides similar protections.

8. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and comply with legal obligations.

When data is no longer needed, we will delete or de-identify it, subject to technical capabilities and legal retention requirements.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

Access and portability: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction and deletion: request that we correct inaccurate data or delete your personal data, subject to legal limits.

In some regions, you may also have rights to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; you can exercise these rights by contacting us at the email address above.

10. Google API Data Usage

At your direction, RealHumans may use Google APIs to help you find verified RealHumans in your contacts, so that they might verify you.

Data We Access

When you choose to import your Google Contacts, we access only contact names and email addresses. We do NOT access phone numbers, addresses, photos, or any other contact information.

How We Use Contact Data

Contact data is used solely to (1) show you on your dashboard which of your contacts are verified, and (2) notify you when your contacts become verified. It is never sold or shared with third parties.

Data Storage and Retention

Your contacts data is deleted from our systems when any of these events occurs:

  • You become a verified RealHuman
  • One year passes since your contacts were imported, or
  • You manually delete contacts data from your dashboard.

Limited Use Compliance

RealHumans' use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

11. U.S. state privacy (including Texas)

If you are a resident of certain U.S. states, including California (CCPA/CPRA) and Texas (TDPSA), you may have additional rights regarding access, deletion, correction, and opting out of certain disclosures or uses of your data.

We will honor these rights consistent with applicable law and may need to verify your identity and residency before fulfilling your request; authorized agents may submit requests where applicable.

12. Data security

Realhumans.org uses administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and you use the Service at your own risk while taking reasonable precautions such as using strong passwords and keeping them confidential.

13. International data transfers

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your data may be processed in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms) to protect personal data transferred from the EEA, UK, or other regions.

14. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and Realhumans.org does not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age.

If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it and may disable the associated account.
