Proof of Personhood

Your PoP link — a portable proof you're real.

A short, single-use, encrypted link that proves you're a verified RealHuman — works on dating apps, marketplaces, in DMs, anywhere.

What it is

Your Proof of Personhood link (PoP for short) is a short URL that verifies you're a real human and matches you to your verified RealHumans profile. It looks something like realhumans.org/v/abc123.

Anyone who clicks it lands on a page that says: yes, this person is a verified RealHuman — verified by [X] on [Y]. They can see your name, photo, and verification number, with the assurance that nobody else can fake your link.

How it's built

Each link contains a cryptographically-signed JWT (JSON Web Token) issued by RealHumans. The token is signed with our private key; the public key is published openly so anyone can verify the signature without trusting us.

The link is single-use — once it's validated, it's gone. That means if you share a PoP link with someone, they can verify it's real, but they can't pass the same link to someone else and pretend to be you.

How to use it

  • Dating apps. Put your PoP link in your bio. People can verify you're real before they swipe.
  • Marketplaces. Send the link to a buyer before you meet to hand off something you sold.
  • Money transfers. Verify each other's links before you wire anything substantial.
  • Family safety. Save your link in your parents' phones. If a call comes from someone claiming to be you and it doesn't match the link, it's not you.

How to require one in return

The other side of the equation: ask for PoP links from people who contact you. Anyone who's real will have one. Anyone who doesn't, or who refuses to share one, is a useful signal.
